This is my first post. I work for company that tracks and manages gift card, and we blogged about this topic recently on savvywallet.com. I know there are many ways to use your stimulus. I just want to warn the public that are some IRS scams, so just be careful how and what you spend it on. Also, retailers are now offering 10% bonuses when you exchange your stimulus for retailer gift cards. Be careful when decide to do this. Even though it may sound like a good deal to get $630 for $600. Consider this: last year $100B was spent on gift cards and $8B was lost/unredeemed. Cards will be lost and stimulus not being spent. Not only will this deepen the hole in our economy (thanks Bush), it will leave your pocket feeling empty. My advice? Put it towards debt, save it, heck put it towards that HDTV you’ve always wanted. I’d rather see the sweat roll off Kobe Bryant’s brow on my 50in plasma than see my IRS stimulus disappear when I lost my wallet with all my gift cards. At least you have a TV that Uncle Sam helped you finance.
