5 THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELL PHONE COULD DO

Thanks for this Lisa Pisa!

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.
Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for
survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

FIRST
Emergency

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself
out of t he coverage area of your mobile; network and there is an
emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to
establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number
112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

SECOND
Have you locked your keys in the car?

Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday.
Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and
the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone
from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car
door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding
it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves
someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object.
You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who
has the other “remote” for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the
trunk).
Editor’s Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car
over a cell phone!”

THIRD
Hidden Battery

Power

Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys
*3370# Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will
show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you
charge your cell next time.

FOURTH
How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone’s serial number, key in the following digits
on your phone: * # 0 6 # A 15 digit code will appear on the screen.
This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it
somewhere safe. When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service
provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block
your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will
be totally useless. btw here is a free coke rewards code knrxz nzlmh
kj9mv - anyways on to your phone, you probably won’t get your phone back,
but at least you know that whoever stole it can’t use/sell it either. If
everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile
phones.
And Finally….

FIFTH
Free Directory Service for Cells

Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411
information calls when they don’t have to. Most of us do not carry a
telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even
more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option,
simply dial: (800) FREE 411, or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any
charge at all. Program this into your cell phone now.
This is the kind of information people don’t mind receiving, so pass it
on to your family and friends.

  1. I just got this email today at work from a buddy of mine. we tried 2, 3, and 4 today and none of those worked. #5 is legit per internet findings, but I didn’t try it, and we didn’t want to bother with an emergency call referenced in 1, although it may be a good thing to check before a road trip.

  2. very helpful

  3. mostly garbage (especially #2 — how could keyfob radio waves be picked up by your cellphone’s audio mike?) see http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/household/cellphones.asp

  4. http://www.citytv.com/edmonton/yourcity_37445.aspx

Watch here… all bogus except for the 800 #

  5. Item 1: 112 is European Emergency Number. 911 works is everywhere in US. If cell phone coverage is
blocked, YOU CAN’T MAKE ANY CALL FROM ANYPHONE

Item 2: Remote KEY Transmitters MUST be in
rnage of receiver. Tranmission properties are
    different.

Item 3: There is no hidden battery. What this
this does is reduce the CODEC to half CODEC,
thus reducing the power used by the phone by
about 30%. Realize at half CODEC your voice
    quality suffers.

Item 4: You can get your Serial number this
way. I did not call my SP to test

Item 5: Exist, but you still use your minutes

  6. If one was dumb enough to have entered *3370# on their phone, how do they reverse the process to get full CODEC back? When I entered it, by the way, my Cingular cell phone did not restart.

  7. the hidden battery power does not work

  10. My Verizon phone is almost completely dead. Waiting for my boyfriend to get here with the charger!!! AAAHhh..so I tried “recharging it” yeah it doesnt worth with Verizon. But another website I read that it added these same tips but Left out the Phone NOKIA..on this one…

  11. Uh-NO, not true….I didn’t even bother trying most of these, I dialed the 1-800-free 411 number to see if it’s true you get free 411, but not so…the number IS legit but not for 411, it’s something else.

  12. My tank is full…

  13. I live in the caribbean. Eager to try to unlock car when my wife calls when she has the car and I am home.

  14. I use the 1-800-free411 all the time. Yes it does work. Everything that is free in life will cost you one way or another. When you use this service, you will have to listen to about 30 seconds of thier advertisements, but hey that is alot cheaper than $1.75 for 411

  15. Good Points, and will be usefull for me

  16. This site is really good… thank u so much for ur information….

  17. Maha Bakwaas…. only the emergency call is good.. rest is bakwaas…

  20. Hi, decided to try no3 the hidden battery, my phone turned off and wont turn back on. Anyone know why and how to reverse this?

  21. This isn’t true. If you get an email that sounds to good to be true, look into it at http://www.snopes.com.

  22. I am a college student…in my dorm room, we can only dial local numbers and toll free numbers. 1800 free 411 (1800- 373-3411) does work….it is free and makes their money from sponsors who pay them to run advertisements before they ask you the city & state/listing and before they give u the number. legit…i use it all the time..

  23. i tried 3 4 and 5…three didnt work but 4 and 5 did..im going to try the other ones…

  24. I have just charged a cell phone by cingular from a few years ago. It is in great shape. It has numberous phone numbers in it from the past. However when I use the number I believe it is in order to sign-on……or register it….anything…..I don’t get anywhere. Except the one time when I used a wrong number. It said it would send a message to the phone……I don’t see one anywhere!
Basically I want the phone activatived again…..
Want to pay for time to be put on it. We want to use it!
Thanks for your help….(ps the face of the phone states “07:18am
    Unregistered SIM
    01/01/00″
    Hope that helps????
